The Odyssey - Iceland as Hades

I went to see Christopher Nolan's 'The Oydssey' yesterday, I saw it at the BFI IMAX on 70mm IMAX - the only way to see it if you want to see 

He is told by Circe - who has turned his crew members into pigs - that he needs to visit blind Tiresias in Hades.

She tells him that he needs to head for the darkness "where a river of fire meets a river of ice". As she says this words I thought... "that sounds like Iceland" - cue a boat landing on what looks like a glacial outwash plain. 

I did a quick check to see which film locations were used, and Iceland is there on the list sure enough...

I've been to several of these locations in person...
