New hat

Just ordered a new hat from 66 North which has been produced to raise funds for ICE-SAR: the Search and Rescue organisation which I hope I never need to call on. Glad to donate a little towards their work.

I have seen them training on the glaciers before, and there is a great exhibition of their history in Skogar Museum.

It is called the Landsbjörg Hat. The design is based on an aerial view of glaciated mountain lansdscapes in the north of Iceland.

66 North (which is in its 99th year) has long been associated with clothing this organisation, and can also be seen in the uniform of customs officers when you arrive at Keflavik.

On the website the hat is modelled by Svanhvít Helga Jóhannsdóttir.

She shares something of her life and the reasons why she volunteers with ICE-SAR.

Coming soon to an Icelandic landscape near you....
