The Lava Centre in Hvolsvollur is well worth a visit. It has started to be added to the itinerary of many groups and has a video which is being added to as new eruptions begin.
It opened in 2017 and was of course affected by the pandemic, but is now fully open with a new food area, and the exhibition remains an excellent interactive experience, starting with a 12 minute film about the island and its tectonic history.
