I've been re-reading the first chapter of the latest book from Nancy Marie Brown.
It explores the connection between the beliefs of the Icelandic people with respect to elves / hidden people, and how they can help develop environmental thinking.

Worth a look to see how important the lava flows which are one of the first landforms seen by visitors when they depart from the airport are for the people of Iceland.
