March 2021: Reykjanes Eruption #1

I said I would come back to posting on this blog if there was some significant event, and after the earthquake swarm of the last few weeks, we now have a volcanic eruption to marvel at.

The eruption started last night, in Geldingadalur (a valley) near to a peak called Fagradalsfjall.

It is being reported around the world, and may do for Icelandic tourism what Eyjafjallajokull did in 2010.

Much more to come in the next few days (and beyond, depending on the length of the eruption...)
