Sep 12: Hemp - a new crop for Icelandic farmers?

If you've ever been to Iceland you'll know that much of the country has no greenery: no trees or other vegetation other than moss. This is due to the quality and depth of avaialble soil to provide nutrients and water retention.

In those areas where there is no vegetation, attempts have previously been made to establish plants such as lupins which can tolerate the relative lack of nutrients and thin depth of the soil in most parts of Iceland.
Hemp is now being tried as a new industrial crop.
