Aug 5: A landscape of crime

Jar City By Arnaldur Indridason
If you are a fan of crime fiction, you would be given for thinking that Iceland is almost as dangerous a place as Midsomer (where the Murders take place). Many authors have based their books in the landscapes of Iceland, or the cities and there is a range of crime authors who set their work here.
A separate post will explore TV series that are set there.

One of the first that I became aware of was a book called Jar City. It was published in 2000, and set in and around Reykjavik. I took it to Iceland on my first visit to read.
This was written by Arnaldur IndriĆ°ason, and was followed (and preceded) by a series of books featuring the same Detective Erlendur.

Jar City
was made into a film as well.
Other crime writers have also used the country as the location for their stories.
