Aug 31: Icelandic Books: Heida

This is a fascinating book, which brings in a range of themes relating to the Icelandic landscape and activities.

It tells the story of the eponymous Heida, a former model who changed lives for life as a Shepherdess.
Heiða Guðný Ásgeirsdóttir was a former model in New York until she returned to Iceland to help with the family farm, which she now runs with her mother. She learned to shear sheep and also runs tours of the farm. She is also a Deputy member of Iceland's Althing. She is known as "the farmer in the valley"
There is a Yorkshire Shepherdess series on ITV following another former model: Amanda Owen, who now lives with her large family in Yorkshire and is very popular with viewers and also on social media.

Here's a Guardian article on her.
