The Extreme Ice Survey has explored a number of locations around the world for some years now, and led to the film called 'Chasing Ice' which some of you may have seen.They installed some cameras on the Solheimajökull Glacier and produced some timelapse videos showing the retreat of the glacier which is obvious to all those who have visited the glacier over the last five years. The walk to the glacier is becoming longer, the proglacial lake is increasing in size, and the snout is becoming lower. Those guides who take groups onto the glacier (all out of work at the moment), need to do daily assessments of the best way to access the glacier for safety.
They will no doubt have to reacquaint themselves with the glacier as well.
