Apr 27: Eyjafjallajokull Model

Until 2010, most people would not perhaps have been aware of the volcano lying beneath the ice cap along the south coast of Iceland called Eyjfjallajökull.

You can download this template and print it on card to assemble your own model of the volcano, made in association with Blue Peter.

I bought this book while in Iceland, about 6 months after the eruption of the volcano in March of 2010. I was in a bookshop (which in Iceland are usually excellent places to sit, have a coffee and browse) and noticed the book... despite flirting with my baggage allowance I had to have it.

The book includes a range of photographs by Ragnar Thor Sigurdsson with text from geophysicist Ari Trausti Gudmundsson

The photos are stunning, and there is some excellent additional text and diagrams.
The text is in Icelandic and English, so it will also help with your language skills.

My copy was published by Uppheimar in 2010
Hardback, 127pp
ISBN: 9-789979-659709

Also watch out for a link in tomorrow's post to a Discover the World Education webinar which is going to live stream on YouTube from Karen Corfield.
