There is some new and recent activity in the area, with some evidence of rising magma, and small quakes.
Caves were closed off to visitors because of gas levels, and there have been numerous small earthquakes in March.

The Guardian today had a fairly alarmist sort of story about the potential for this activity to cause disruption, with some mention of previous activity or "fires".
