Mar 31: Ý is for Ýsa

Ýsa is the Icelandic word for haddock.
Haddock
Latin name: Melanogrammus aeglefinus

Cod and haddock are caught in the sea off the coast of Iceland, heading up towards the Barents Sea.

There have previously been conflicts over fishing for cod and haddock in Icelandic water, such as during the "Cod Wars" or Þorskastríðin in the 1970s.

The Government's website has more details on Icelandic fish species.

The fish in Iceland is spectacular.
I remember on my last visit having a meal of cod and mash and vegetables in Vik then heading out to watch the Northern Lights - that was a good evening...
