My go-to source for information on the Norse Myths is a book I've had for years, which was written by Kevin Crossley-Holland - the greatest living expert in folk tales and related literature.
It's written with children in mind, but is told with great clarity, and without too many unecessary details, and the full force of the stories emerges.
Many other books about the adventures of Thor, Odin, Loki and the rest have been told.
