Jan 12: Get naked

There are several cultural faux pas which visitors can make to Iceland, and one of them relates to the use of public bathing.

There are many geothermal pools in Iceland.
Some hotels have their own hot pools as well.
One of the most high profile places to visit, it will have its own blog post in time, is the Blue Lagoon.
Another, not so secret place, which will also have its own blog post, is the Secret Lagoon.

Reykjavìk itself has a number of public baths which are very reasonably priced, and have many of the benefits of any hot water bathing spot.
Some hotels also offer hot tubs where you can keep an eye out for the Northern Lights.

There is one thing you need to ensure and that is that you shower before going into the baths, which makes sense.
You need to get naked.

Don't forget to do this. In some locations, there will be a member of staff who will gently remind you of this requirement...

Oh, and be careful how you use the hair dryers...
