Sep 20: Icelandic Books: Island on Fire

During the year so far I have been featuring a range of books which are about various aspects of life in Iceland. I have a growing library of books on Iceland, both fact and fiction.

This one is a particularly good read.

It tells the story of the 18th century eruption of the volcano Laki and its impact on the rest of Europe.

This was one of the largest eruptions in terms of longevity and amount of material produced, and resulted in a dramatic impact on the climate, culture and agriculture. It's accessible, and engaging, and worth adding to your library of Icelandic books.
