Feb 26: Hveragerdi

A common stopping-off point for many visitors to Iceland is the town of Hveragerdi
It's also the location of a hotel used by many tour groups, geothermally heated greenhouses, a supermarket, an ice cream shop, and an exhibit on earthquakes including the 'shake house', which simulates being in an earthquake.
More to come on this place in future blog posts, but here's a useful resource.

Changing Places: Hveragerdi, Iceland from DiscovertheWorldEducation on Vimeo.

It's an excellent video from Simon Ross, shared recently on the Discover the World Education site. It introduces you to this small town which will be familiar to many visitors, and which has an interesting history.
Take a look on the map and you can see that it is nicely situated around 40 minutes from Reykjavik.
