Feb 24: Bolludagur

Today in Iceland, people are celebrating Bolludagur or 'Bun Day'.

It's a day for eating buns and is part of Iceland's 'Carnival' for the start of Lent.
The buns are called Bolludagsbolla or 'Bun Day Buns'. The idea was introduced from Denmark or Norway.
Their equivalent of our 'pancake day' is today essentially.
The buns tend to be cream filled and chocolate covered, similar to eclairs.

Tomorrow is Sprengidagur (Mardi Gras)
Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, or Ă–skudagur (Ash Wednesday)
