Jan 12: Inspired by Iceland - Regions

The main Inspired by Iceland website is a key official tourist site for visitors to Iceland
If you are interested in Iceland, you need to be following Inspired by Iceland on Twitter @iceland.
The site has a wealth of information on different topics, and has a useful regional page, which will introduce visitors to the different regions of Iceland.

Check out the Instagram page as well. They share excellent imagery of the landscape and culture of Iceland.

There are 7 regions which can be visited. Most visitors will visit the Reykjavik region of course, and perhaps the Reykjanes Peninsula.
North Iceland
South Iceland
East Iceland
West Iceland
Westfjords
Reykjanes Peninsula
Reykjavik

There is, however, another option which could take you into East Iceland.
It is possible to visit Iceland by ferry. These are operated by a ferry company called Smyril.

Smyril Line car ferry M/S Norröna sails between Seyðisfjörður in East Iceland, Hirtshals in Denmark and Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands once a week. The ferry gives travellers the option of bringing their own vehicles to Iceland, and also taking in the Faroe Islands en route.

Flights are also heading into Akureyri airport as well, and some companies are looking into these regions in order to take a little of the pressure away from the most popular parts of Iceland for tourists.

More to come on the Inspired by Iceland website in future blog posts, as they have a wide range of creative content on the site.
