Jan 11: Icelandic Institute of Natural History

The Icelandic Institute of Natural History has a very helpful website for those wanting to explore the landscape of the island in some detail.
There are downloads of data and access to a range of maps at different scales, including habitats of different vegetation alongside some of the fauna. There are details of birds, mammals, marine life, and invasive species, such as the Spanish slug.



The emblem of the Institute is the Raven: an important bird in mythology, and also commonly seen in Iceland. More on ravens to come...
